The Language of colours at the Gallery Spada and Gallery Colonna, Rome
This tour is for students of Fashion Design, period dress or Visual communications who would like to learn about the historical meaning of colour. Meanings and the different interpretations will be explained, in order to disentangle the symbolic labyrinth of tones.
Painting, sculpture, minor arts, heraldic art and clothing are regulated by secret colour codes and use a chromatic palette, which since the ancient triad of white, black and red has been enhanced with numerous colours like blue, green, yellow, gold, silver…each bringing its own significant symbolic baggage.
Agnese will accompany you to the art galleries, helping you to decipher the details and discover a work of art using a different, colour-based key to its interpretation.
